3/14/2023 0 Comments Phlo finister birthdayNeedless to say, I can’t throw my money away on these ‘collectables’ fast enough…īeing a ‘concept store’, colette doesn’t just toy with a theme, product or brand, but rather they take it, embrace it, and integrate it into their gallic DNA. Too good to be true? Perhaps, but my obsessive fan girl can’t complain, as great brands such as Lego, Converse, Moleskin, A Bathing Ape, Drop Dead Clothing, and soon MAC, have all launched a diverse range of Simpsons paraphernalia to celebrate the anniversary, the majority of which has been tenuously linked to the show, but strong from a design perspective, with a strong focus on incorporating lots of bright yellow, recognizable 2D faces into their products. Scott’s black and yellow knitted Bart jumpers that were sent down the runway in 2012, instagrammed to death, documented on streetstyle blogs on the back of Delevingne, and knocked off by countless Chinese onine retailers, have put Matt Groening’s incredible cartoon back in vogue (literally), which has coincided perfectly with the show’s 25th anniversary this year. I would point one of my four, yellow fingers at Jeremy Scott for spearheading the Simpsons resurgence in the fashion world, and placing a TV series and a family who admittedly have been losing their pop-culture significance and viewing ratings over the recent years, back in the spotlight. Unfortunately, as all good things take time, my eager fangirl-ness and rumbly tummy meant that I was a bit early on the first day, as when I arrived they were setting up and putting the finishing touches to the blue and yellow decor, so the choice was made. After having to accept that a 100€ printed t-shirt was a little steep, even for an obsessive Simpsons fan like myself, I decided that if I couldn’t get the beautiful blue breton top with Lisa Simpson embroidery, I could chow down with my favourite Springfield residents in the famous colette water bar. Are you doubting my legitimacy as a serious Simpsons fan for missing out on the opening day of Eleven Paris x The Simpsons x colette launch? Alas, do not be fooled, as I am somewhat ashamed (and at the same time strangely proud) to admit that I did excitedly hurry down to colette during my lunch break for the opening day of the Eleven Paris x The Simpsons collaboration.
